Vintage Sheet Fat Quarter Swap...

A few days ago i got very excited at the local Op shop when i finally went in to look at their sheets... and found some i love... although i did go for the white kinds a little too much.. but there were no brights and i wanted ones that matched...

I love this Vintage sheet quilt and so wanted to make my own... But i want more variety in the squares or course... And the universe has been loving me recently and up on Meika's Little Treasures i found a Vintage Sheet Fat Quarter swap she has organised. Very Pleased and Plus it's only in Tasmania so no sending overseas (another country i mean). Makes it a little bit cheaper on the post side of things.

Get in quick as the deadline ends today... and the more swappers... the more variety for me!!!

Pay It Forward...

I have recently discovered Etsy... I am in love..

After looking at Hokey's Etsy store i feel in love with her wallets and all the cute fabric she uses to make them...

So guess how thrilled i was when she put up a "Pay It Forward" scheme up on her blog. I would love to get something hand made off her.

Now i have to pay it forward to 3 other people...

Thanks to Warner Bros

This is how it works...

The first three people who comment on this post will get a little handmade gift from me sometime in the next 365 days. All you need to do is "Pay-it-Forward" to 3 people on your blog in exchange.

Make sure when you leave a comment you let me know your email and blog address so I can contact you.

For more info about paying it forward check this out.

1st finished quilt... YAY!!!

As requested... My very first finished quilt on my bed. I never knew that it would take sooo long to bind it. I stayed up til 2am one night and a few days later watched 8 episodes of "Love My Way" (an australian drama) while trying to finish it off. Although it did keep me warm while doing it. I did have it draped over my couch for a few days so i could marvel at my work.
I have 2 more quilt tops with backing ready to go to Bernadette when i see her on Saturday. I just need to pick out some egde-to-edge quilting patterns and wait for Bern to do her magic. I did learn a very important lesson when putting together my backing fabric. When buying from America... A yard is less than a Metre... So i had to buy some material to make the backing longer to go on the Quilting machine. Lesson learnt...
I'm also half way through Quilting my "Bears In The Heavens" Cot quilt myself. But just so you know... there will be NO close up pics when it is done..
I'm now away again for 4 days... So at least now I'll get a chance to try and finish reading "The book Thief" by Markus Zusak. Great book so far..

My 1st pin cushion

This fabric was screaming at me to be made into something. So i used it to make my very first pin cushion. A mouse i found here. Very easy. My couch just couldn't take me sticking pins in it again. It just loves snuggling up to Rupert. Be careful of the pins buddy.

More shopping in Perth... and Ikea...

When i was in Tasmania my friends forbid me to go into a quilting store (and i was even driving)... so when i was in Perth again i couldn't help myself... I only had 2 hours to get on a bus from the city centre to Booragoon, quickly get a pair of jeans (as i forgot to put jeans in my suitcase and was wearing my work dress with a jumper over the top to try and hide it.), then walk to Textile traders.... have some fun picking some fabric, then get back to the hotel in time to get ready for work. I just love retail therapy...
I just love the pink flannelette fabric at the front. I just have no idea what to do with it. I might use it as a backing fabric for a future cot quilt. While the girl at the counter was cutting my fabric i just had to run back to get the bird fabric... it was just screaming at me to get it.

Even at Ikea i have to buy fabric... Well I did need some heavy fabric to use for a floor pillow... This was the only fabric that my man could deal with in his lounge room. I love the amy butler pattern and couldn't wait to use it. Hopefully i have the patience to try and match up the hearts as i go. Another thing to add to the To Do list....
Having gone to Ikea twice in 3 weeks and spending more then we should have... i have been told by the man of the house that we can't go again until next year.... So January 1st... Ikea here we come...

A quilt top, the postie and a dog in PJ's...

Another Quilt top finished.... I was about to post photos last night before i realised i hadn't put the stars on. There's always something to take the wind out of my sails. I couldn't wait to get home from work today so i could finish it. I'm going to try and machine quilt it myself... with a little help from my fairy quilt mother... ie Bernadette...

I love the mailman.... I adore the Flutterby fabrics. They are so me... and i love the ladybugs through it. I also got some fabrics for the backings of other finished quilt tops... and some cupcake fabric for a Cupcake and tea swap... Which reminds me i should enquire about sending tea overseas..

This is Rupert wearing his PJ's that i got from Hobart. In my defense... he's short haired and sleeps in the laundry...
