A late Birthday Present..

I loved this fabric the moment I saw it at Textile traders in Perth. The faces on these hula girls freak me out in a good way. So I used it to make a Emmeline Apron for a close friend. It's reversible with bright matching stripes on the reverse side.

This was finished the day after I went to the stitches and Craft show. I was so excited to use the Nicole Mallalieu pattern i bought using some Tina Givens fabric I've had for a while. I stayed up well after my bed time to finish it... But it was worth it..

A well loved 1st Birthday present for a friends boy....

It was made at Christmas time (thus the scenery).

I used the pattern from 'Softies'... So simple.. He's red brother adorns the cover.

1st post for the year...

Yep... It's been 3 months since my last post... WOW... time does fly..

It's been a little quiet on the sewing front in the last few months as I've been buying organising an engagement party and a wedding, as well as going to NZ for a friends wedding. OH... and I may have got a little addicted to my birthday present of a Nintendo DS... If you have one try "Professor Layton and the curious village" it has great puzzles in it for adults although i did have to look at cheats on the net...But enough with excuses..

I DID make some new curtains for the bedrooms... One of my bedroom windows takes up the entire wall.. and i have 9 foot high ceilings... Needless to say i was buried in fabric trying to do them... And i had to put up the rods in 40 degree heat sweating my bum off (we were sleeping in the lounge room because it was that hot in the bedrooms)... But I was a woman on a mission....

It's getting windy outside now which is a tad scary because I'm in a semi rural town 45minutes for Daylesford PLUS I am about to get ready for work which involves flying in and out of Melbourne Airport for 7 hours... I'll definitely make sure there is a sick bag in EVERY seat pocket..

And I got this table from IKEA recently and I promised my fiance that once my holidays were over it was going into my sewing room. My holidays ended 3 weeks ago!!! But he hasn't said anything so I'm not... And can you see the silver light? IKEA too... It just clips onto the side of the table and I just point it to where i want it... I love it!!! Did i mention i like to watch TV while i sew...

Finished before 2009 arrives....

This was so quick to make and i'm so happy with the result. When i was searching through my stash for something to cover my new diary this Kristen Doran print just jumped out at me because it was the right size and fitted the intended purpose. It was meant to be...

Be gone ugly diary...

Sorry Sharon but it wasn't the prettiest of diaries... So I was happy when you wanted me to cover it in this cute fabric. It's been finished for a few days now but I didn't want to post about it until it was delivered. It's now waiting patiently on your kitchen table waiting for you to come home. Yes.. your hair straighter is off. And not only is it off... It's hanging pretty all wrapped up on it's hook. And it wasn't put there by me...
And I rode to your house and nearly died again. That hill ALWAYS gets me. But I'm fine again...
The Pen holder was made using this great tutorial. I've made the elastic loser so you can use it as a bookmark type thing. ENJOY!!

Elephant cushion...

I was sorry to see this leave... Although it will be loved and cherised by a elephant lover. My friend is even going to buy a doona cover to match it... I do love it... There may be more to come.. The googly eye really does make it...

Boxy Pouch...

I do my best work when I'm meant to be in bed....

Last night I made this pouch to give to a friend who loves elephants.

I used this tutorial. I had to unpick a few times as I've never sewn on a zip that hides between 2 fabrics before so I had to get my head around that one. But towards the end it came together very quickly. I've ironed the edges so it looks a bit more 'boxy'. Because the outside is so dark i decided to make the inside a bit brighter.

I may have a thing for red and pink as a "secondary" material as the photo was taken on the backing to my lime and soda quilt.

Well it may be my passport currently in it but it's part of a present for a friend of mine that loves elephants. I got the tutorial at BunnyBum. It's so simple yet so effective. Because you could see through the white of the elephant fabric i just had to add a piece of white fabric in the middle. Yes, the elephant does have cup cakes coming out of it's trunk.

I decided to make the passport cover tonight as i already had the sewing machine out. The boyfriend and i went shopping today for supplies for his Kokoda trek. Thus he's training has made him lose weight (running in the family lately) so he needed new jeans which i had to take up... Plus a few of his other jeans that miraculously appeared for the same treatment. I'm a good girlfriend.
